Reflections for Deputy Marshal Bobby Glenn Thompson

What a tragic and senseless loss. Rest In Peace, know we will push on. The page doesn't say what/if the suspects were caught. I truly pay for their sins some day. My condolences to your family, friends, and Montgomery PD.

Dear Mr. Bobby,

I wanted to take the time say "hi" and thank you. I heard alot of great things about you. Your are loved and missed by all that knew you. I wish I could have met you while you walked this earth; however, this wasn't meant to be, but I know when my life on this earth has ended and my eternal life begins I will have my chance.

Thank you, it is because of you that Bobby Jr. and I are together. Bobby Jr. and I have had many, many talks about you; although he has come a long way we still have a long way to go. Bobby Jr. is a wonderful man, or at least I think so, he is a bit stubborn and a lot hard headed (but so am I), but he is a wonderful man and I find it an honour to be loved by him and to be his wife. I know the day Jesus called you Home left a void that can never be filled. I have ased Bobby Jr. to remember the way you lived and the way you loved your family instead of the way in which you died. Like I said we have come a long way and still have a long way to go. When I first met Bobby Jr. he was full of hate, anger and guilt. Now people who know him say that he has changed and changed for the better. I hope that he will always talk to me not only as his wife but also as his best friend. I hope that I am able to make him relaize that justice will be served it may not be in this lifetime, but it will be served.

Love,

Donna Thompson

Mardi Gras has just passed. I think of you every year. We all had so much fun together on the float. I have such great memories to carry forever, but I would give them all up to have you here again. I miss you.

Love you always,

I was just thinking of all the holiday parties we had together. I miss those times. You made everything so much fun for all of us. Nothing has been the same in this family since you have been gone. Not a Christmas goes by that I dont think of Santa visiting us at your house. You were not pleased unless all of the kids were laughing. I think I have taken your role as the clown in the family. Thank you for all the great memories.

Love,
Tasha

Tina and I have been busy sending letters to your old friends and long lost family members. We are asking for their help in writing letters to the parole board to stop the release of one of your attackers. I miss you. I will do this as many times as it takes. I love you and will do anything to honor your memory. You still mean as much to me today as you ever did.

Missing you everyday,
Tasha

TO THE FAMILY, FRIENDS AND CO-WORKERS OF DEPUTY THOMPSON: HE WILL ALWAYS BE REMEMBERED FOR THE ULTIMATE SACRIFICE HE GAVE, HIS LIFE.
TO BOBBY, JR.: YOUR LIFE CHANGED THE DAY YOUR FATHER WAS KILLED. KNOW THAT ALL OF US HAVE GONE THROUGH IT AND ARE STILL GOING THROUGH IT. YOU ARE NOT ALONE. WE THINK OF OUR LOVED ONES EVERY DAY OF OUR LIVES, WE MISS THEM EVERY DAY OF OUR LIVES.
I WAS GIVEN THIS POEM AND I THINK IT SPEAKS VOLUMES OF HOW WE FEEL.

DEDICATION TO A FALLEN OFFICER

A MILLION TIMES WE HAVE MISSED YOU, A MILLION TIMES WE'VE CRIED,
IF LOVE COULD HAVE SAVED YOU, YOU NEVER WOULD HAVE DIED,
THINGS WE FEEL MOST DEEPLY, ARE THE HARDEST THINGS TO SAY,
OUR DEAREST ONE, WE HAVE LOVED YOU IN A VERY SPECIAL WAY.
WE OFTEN SIT AND THINK OF YOU, AND THINK OF HOW YOU DIED,
TO THINK WE COULDN'T SAY GOOD-BYE BEFORE YOU CLOSED YOUR EYES.
NO ONE CAN KNOW OUR LONELINESS, AND NO ONE CAN SEE US WEEPING,
ALL OUR TEARS FROM ACHING HEARTS, WHLE OTHERS ARE STILL SLEEPING.
IF WE HAD ONE LIFETIME WISH, A DREAM THAT WOULD COME TRUE,
WE'D PRAY TO GOD WITH ALL OUR HEARTS, FOR YESTERDAY AND YOU.

GOD BLESS THE FAMILY OF DEPUTY THOMPSON AND MAY HE GIVE THEM COMFORT TODAY AND ALWAYS.

What a tragic story of how a law enforcement brother made the ultimate sacrifice. His story shows everyone that people we come in contact with in our line of work can change our lives forever. Everyday I go to work I always think of what can happen, as it did several years ago for me. But, I can assure you all, that your loved one like myself think of our families through out the shift and we all want to make it home to the family. So, remember everyday when you leave home. Tell someone you love them.
Rest in Peace! Brother

TO THE THOMPSON FAMILY:
I ONLY LEARNED TODAY YOUR HUSBAND, FATHER, AND GRANDFATHERS STORY AND HOW HIS LIFE WAS TAKEN SO HORRIFICALLY. IT WAS SAD TO LEARN HIS STORY AND THAN LEARN THAT ONE OF HIS KILLERS IS SET TO RECIEVE A PAROLE HEARING. PLEASE KNOW THAT I WILL DO EVERYTHING I CAN TO ENSURE AS MANY LETTERS AS POSSIBLE FLOOD THAT PAROLE BOARD, SO EVERYONE KNOWS THAT WHILE YOUR MOST TREASURED FAMILY MEMBERS IS GONE, YOUR LAW ENFORCEMENT FAMILY WILL NOT FORGET HIM, HIS SACRIFICE, OR THE LOVED ONES HE LEFT BEHIND. GOD BLESS YOU.

I salute you for your dedicated service to law enforcement. Even after all this time I know the tears still flow from the hearts of all the loved ones left behind. They will never forget you nor will the Blue Family ever let you be forgotten as you are a true hero and heroes never die. Wrap your wings around your loved ones and protect them from harm as they travel lifes journey. I hope those that caused all this pain and suffering to a loving family received some type of punishment to equal their crime. Not only did they take a life but destroyed a loving family forever.

Uncle Bobby,
Current events here in LaPlace have brought back the tragic memories of the night you were taken. Not a single day goes by that I do not think of you. You picture hangs on the wall so I can see you everyday. I miss you so much. I feel so lucky to know the love you had for me. I tell my son stories about you. How I wish you were here to see him. I love you as much today as when you were here. Sometimes I swear I hear you talking to me. I will see you again someday. Until then, I'll be missing you.
Love,

Regardless of how or why you were taken from us, you are no longer here, physically. There are no doubt those who miss you and think of you on a regular basis. May they know that, though physically gone, you are still here in their hearts and minds. You made the ultimate sacrifice and for that, we should all say THANK YOU for your dedication. Rest in peace and God bless you.
