On this actual anniversary of your death at the hands of one of the most cowardly acts by one of the most cowardly people who was unable to face justice and consequences of that justice by hanging himself, I’d like to reiterate my previous reflection and say that your law enforcement family will never forget. Rest in peace always.

Rest in peace always knowing that your service and sacrifice will never, ever be forgotten by your law enforcement brethren.

My father, Jerry Weaver, was very close with Kelly as a friend and co-worker. When she passed my sister was 4 and I was not yet 1. As kids our dad would take us to visit her grave site and tell us all about her. We still think of her till this day. What a tragic event for such a beautiful soul.

I had just met Kelly a few weeks prior to her death, as a state trooper recently assigned to a neighboring county. She had an excellent reputation as both a law enforcement officer and as a friend. I had looked forward to working with her. Kelly was the second female officer killed in the line of duty in Kansas, having been preceded by Overland Park Police Officer Deanna Rose by one year and seven days.

I miss our banana bomb pops on hot summer days, your funny little drawings on the calendars you would give us counting the days until we got to come back to KC to stay with you and dad, your laugh and your love. My memories of you have helped shape me into the mother I am today. You were a wonderful woman and I know that your have all of us, Morgan, Adam and me, in your heavenly embraces every day.

I am now as old as you were when you left this beautiful world. I wish I could have grown up and had the chance to do all the mother and daughter things with you. Rest in paradise mom!

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 26th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer

Time never diminishes respect and your memory will always be honored and revered. You were a beautiful young woman with a radiant smile and I am sure that is how you greeted the world. I pray for the solace of all those who love and remember you for I know the pain and pride are forever. Your family is in my heart's embrace today. Morgan, thanks for sharing a daughter's devotion.

Rest In Peace.
