I am privileged to be among the first to pay tribute to you. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 56th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

Rest In Peace

I was raised in Whitefish,Mt. As a 13 year old boy, I remember Officer Murphy and his death. When I eventually retired as a Senior Detective with LAPD, I returned to Whitefish and later became the Chief of Police. I recalled Officer Murphy, I opened his files, and was very proud to submit his name to the Law Enforcement Memorial for Fallen Officers in Washington, DC and to the Montana Law Enforcement Museum and to see that his name would be included in both those locations. "Murph" is gone but will not be forgotten.

Chief William J. La Brie, Retired
Whitefish Police Department

Even though this reflection is almost 50 years since your passing, your work in law enforcement has made it safer for your family and the community of Whitefish, and makes me proud of my hometown. God bless you.
