Reflections for Deputy Bobby Joe McCrary

I miss you daddy!

Nancy
your daughter

Uncle Bob, you were a wonderful uncle! I miss you a lot and think of you often, your death was truly a shock. I went to Mississippi a couple years ago and was surprised and honored to see they named a stretch of highway after you. Bet you never thought that would happen, lol. I can still see you smile and hear that wonderful laugh that you had. I know that you and Daddy are up there watching over all of us now. Me and Nancy talk about ya'll all the time up there watching and probably laughing at us.
Having polio, I know, didn't make your life easy, but you made the best of it. You didn't deserve what happened to you, but rest in peace knowing that he is paying for what he did.
You are gone from us now but know that you will never be forgotten!
Love you and miss you,
Angela

It doesn’t seem like it has been 8 years since you were killed. I listened as you told us he was approaching your truck, and that he had stabbed you, that haunted me for many months. They sent the man that killed you to a mental hospital, saying he was not fit to stand trial. My only hope is that God will serve him with his final judgment.

Life goes on. The State named the section of highway where you were killed after you, and I think of you every time I pass that sign; as I did even before they put it up. Your wife is doing well. Ken became Sheriff after J.B. retired, and now Ronnie will succeed him in January. You would not recognize the department anymore. More than 80 sworn road-men now, when you left we had about 20. There is a new jail, a new vehicle shop, just a whole new department. You were an inspiration to many people in life, and to a great many more in death. Rest in peace Bobby, you are not forgotten.
