My thoughts of you never waver. My admiration for you will never die. There's not a day that goes by,that your not in my thoughts.
When ever I see a patrol car, I wish it was you driving by and poping your lights.
I wish July 11th had no meaning to me or your family, but sadly it does. It was your last day on God's earth with us. I'm being selfish when I say, I wish you where here, but God had differant plans for you.
I just can't get over it. I'm missing so much out of my life since you've been gone. I pray to God that we are together again in our Father's heaven.

Sturgis is upon us and you will be in my heart as we ride.
I know you will protect me and my friends as you always have.

Love your son and family.

"The Badge"

He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.

He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.

Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.

He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.

His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.

He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.

And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.

But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.

Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.

Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.

So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.

In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.

Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

Another year rolls by with out you here.
I promised myself I would not shed another tear.
The memories are fresh, even though
it's been 32 years.

I try to be a Daddy, just like you,
sometimes I think, I don't have a clue.
You did more for me in the short time we had
You where the worlds best DAD.

I often wonder where we would be, if you where here.
I know life has to go on, your spirit is near.
Each day, I'm reminded of what you did for your town.
It's what you wanted, you never let us down.

I laugh and wish I could call you Old man.
Yes, you would be 67 this year, with retirement in your plans.
Knowing you, you would of never stopped.
You would of found a way to always be a cop.

I miss you so much Dad.

Love your son,
Michal

Hey Red! I'm a little late getting here but what the heck, you were always late yourself. You were a great friend and partner for quite a few years, but not nearly long enough. You and the family were going to come to visit after you completed your shift. While you were getting shot, I was getting my neck broken. The first thing I told everyone was don't tell Red, I don't want to hear all that "stuff" he will have to say. A few hours later they sent an officer to my room to tell me you had been killed. What a shock, it couldn't happen to Red!!! Not to get emotional but, I missed you then and still do. I frequently think about all the time we spent as partners and all the war stories we made together and the funny things you got us into. Sorry Red, your death was one of the lowest points in my life. We all miss you. You were a great Cop and super friend. Rest in peace, you deserve it!!!

Dear Dad,
Fathers Day is coming up this Sunday. Wouldn't you know it falls on Mom's birthday. We are going to Houston and to surprise her with a visit. This July your grandson and I will be driving down to Yorktown on my motorcycle for your memorial. Mom and Michele,Tutti and Billy will be there. The Victoria Advocate did a big wright up on you a few weeks ago. It goes to show that we will never forget you.
On our trip to Yorktown I will be stopping to talk with police officer thru out Texas and getting their story and pictures to share with friends and family. This is a tribute to you and the sacrifice that you made for us and the community of Yorktown. God bless you. Rest in Peace.
Love Mike.

I remember the times we patrolled together back in '76. You were always alert and professional. You were a heck of a back-up when I needed you. But mostly you were my friend and a friend of my family. About 5 years ago I met "little" Sarah. She didn't recognize me but when I introduced myself, it was then we shared some great memories of you. Also, I still have your Zippo lighter the one you carried in a keeper on your Sam Brown.
I can thank Judy for this. I visit your grave every time I visit my wife and sister's. I will always keep you in my memories foreever!
God bless you, Sir!

Dear Dad,
This past Monday was the 29th year we have been without you. It doesn't get any eaiser with time and age. I just handle it better. I've been blessed with your wonderful side of the family and what they all did for me. They helped you keep your promise. Your brother "Buddy" and all of my cousins surprised me with your service revolver this past Memorial Day. I thought it was gone forever. It's just as nice as the day you bought it and we fixed it up with a gold trigger and hammer. I truely feel complete now that I have it after all these years. Aunt Linda never did sell it like she told me. She kept it safe. I want everyone to know it's not the "gun" it's really what we did to "fix it up" that I hold special. The butt plate shines extra special with your name. I promise that I will pass it down to your grandson Brandon when the time is right. I love you Dad, we all miss you.
Love, Michael, Michelle, Tutti, Billy and Emma Jo

Officer "RED" Mullins, Sir we met in a local store in Yorktown and a simple hand shake touched my soul. I was 13 years old at the time. Less then one year later I hear of the ultimate sacrafice. That same day my carrier was chosen. I have over twenty years in now and have been to several funerals and several scary calls, that six minute visit always seems to come into my thoughts. Sometimes it's like you are there with me. God Bless you Officer "RED" Mullins Jr. My Hero my Partner.
