Over two decades have passed since you were called away and I know that during that time as each day passed, you were thought of by those that love your dearly. Continue to keep watch over them and protect them from harm. Appear to them in their dreams in vivid color so that they know you are near watching over them. You are a true hero and will never be forgotten.

Well it's been 21 years. I wish I could go back to 1985 when I was with Mami, Papi, Abuela, Leo, you,& Terry. I was where I wanted to be then with my family. I miss you and thank you for loving me unconditionally as your sister even though biologically I wasn't. In my heart I am and always will be grateful for being blessed enough to have the time I had and still have with Mami, Terry, and Leo.

I love you all very much.
Thank you Terry for loving me the same way, I love you too.

Terry,

I want to wish you and your family the best for the future. Upon reading your reflections you have remained strong and proud, your husband was obviously much loved and respected. Although a Police Officer from a place far away does not make what I say mean anything less, we are all part of the Police family fighting the same fight.

Emilio - Rest in Peace mate.

Hi Diane, thank you for "that hug" you don't know how much it means to me when someone says that they read my reflections, that means that they have not forgotten Emilio and are still looking and reading his page. I am sure that Emilio already gave our friends up in Heaven that hug that you sent them, I am pretty sure that they already have "Hialeah PD in Heaven"

Once again Thank you and see you soon.

Emilio, I had the pleasure of meeting your wife Teri today at Lt. Ralph Gracia's Retirement luncheon. What a beautiful person she is. I huged her and told her that I've read all her reflections that she leaves for you and God Bless her that she keeps the memory of you alive. Keep watching over your family and your fellow Brother & Sisters in Blue and always remember you're never forgotten and very much loved. (p.s. could you please give Joe, Papo, Pete & Eddie Deltorro a hug for me and that they too are not forgotten)

Hi Emilio, today after almost 21 yrs, our son and I went to the police station to see, hear and read about your last few minutes here, our son wanted to do it as he was only 7 at the time, and needed to talk to Ralph and hear it from him(the detective who handle the case and most of all our dear friend) what happend that day, Ralph is retiring next week. Today we talked about that nov. 6, 1986 and to Ralph, Arango, our son and me it was like if it was today. You are still in our minds and most of all in our hearts, almost 21 yrs have passed but you are still here with us, we still miss you and feel you everywhere, not only us as your family but your co-workers/friends still miss you very much.

we love you, please, keep on protecting us from Heaven

Terri, I remember that day as if it were yesterday. I was 11 years old and shopping with my grand mother at the Palm Springs Mile that day. Not a day goes by that I dont think about your husband. Your husband is the reason I became an officer. You are in my prayers.

"The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.
