The description of the location seems to be inaccurate. There was a staircase of 84 or 85 steps (hilly Manayunk has several of these) which went from "Little Cresson St." at a point below the end of Dawson. These steps went to Main St. very close to one of several textile mills in the area.

Wow so sad Officer Miles. Raising five young children and forever a City Of Brotherly Love hero! Rest in peace.

Thank you for posting this. This is a picture of my grandfather that I or my sisters have never saw a photo of. I also saw a posting here of a relative that I didn't know we had, which would be a cousin to my children. His son, Robert Miles, was my father. He passed in 1988 and do not have much information on his father.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 89th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect and your memory will always be honored and revered. How tragic that your family suffered losing both their parents and I hope your children were cared for by your depatment and city/

Rest In Peace.
