Your heroism and service is honored today, the 49th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never dimishes respect, and your memory will always be honored and revered. .

Rest In Peace

I never knew Charles Henry (Bud) Miculka but I feel that I know much about him. While travelling in Europe in 2004, I met Bud's widow Sonja and her now husband Richard. Through both I learnt of Bud, the person and police officer that he was and his lasting legacy. In April of 2006, I visited Sonja and Richard and had the honour of visiting Roseberg and Fort Bend and was able to view the memorials to Bud and fellow officers who have died in the line of duty. I have been, for over 35 years, a serving police officer in South Australia and have had the misfortune to know a number of police officers killed in this State. No matter where we travel in this world, there is a kindred spirit amongst police officers. The problems and frustrations that we face are universal. So too, is the grief that we all feel when one of our fellow officers dies in the execution of his or her duty. May the sacrifice of Bud and those many police officers who have died in Texas and here in my State of South Australia, never be forgotten. We honour their memory.
