Reflections for Detective Terry Wayne McNett

I met Terry McNett when I was in the Sedgwick County Sherrif Cadets from 1975 to 1980. Terry was the most kind and caring person you could ever meet. Whenever I had the chance to pair up with Terry for patrol, I would gladly be at his side. I was living in Minnesota, when I heard of Terry's death from my brother. It was a very sad day for me, knowing that such a good person was gone. Terry will be missed by many, but rest assured, Terry is patroling the streets of heaven.

While I was with ATF in Wichita, I was on the task force with Terry. I moved to another agency and lost touch with Terry. Years later, I attended a training session that was discussing officer safety. During the class a series of photos showed officers killed in the line of duty. When Terry's photo was shown, it was like a knife in the heart. I remember Terry as one of the nicest, easiest going people I've worked with in law enforcement. I can still remember his laugh and smile. Now, I'm in a training assignment at the FLETC. I will be using this loss as a very personal example of why every officer and agent must be careful, whether on warrants or interviews. Thanks Terry. God speed.
