Doing an project at FTO school for LAPD. I will be using your death and sacrifice as a teaching tool for the next generation of officers. It hits a little closer to home because I am in West Valley too and drive that intersection daily. I'm sorry that you never got to experience all of the fun things that this job field has to offer.

Rest Easy Brother. You shall never be forgotten.

Your memory was emblazoned in the minds of our young LAPD officers at an outdoor West Valley Division roll call at the intersection of White Oak and Sherman Wy on Wednesday, January 25th, 2012. This was done in your memory so others who never knew you will not forget you!

God Bless you and your family members who loved you so much! You will NOT be forgotten!

The Badge"

He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.

He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.

Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.

He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.

His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.

He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.

And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.

But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.

Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.

Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.

So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.

In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.

Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

I did not know about this website until today. I wish I had known sooner because I would have written. I feel as though I finally have a chance to speak to you although you can only look down from heaven. That is cool too cause you are can look after my mom and day who are with you too. You see, I was on duty when the accident happened. I can remember the citizen putting out the help call and my partner and I arriving. I was on probation like you. I stayed until there were not further tasks at had and went to wish your partner a speedy recovery. I left to visit my dad who was ill. On that week, I not only lost you, but my mom and dad too. So sorry I did not show for the farewell, but I say to you today, If you see mom and dad tell them I am doing fine and still keeping the streets safe. I still remember!

Watched your story on the tv show The Real LAPD. What a sad story it was, the funeral was very sad.
Your chief sad it was a life long dream of yours to be an officer, it was too bad it only lasted 3 months.
What is even sadder is it has been this long and you don't have any reflections, until now.
THANK YOU for protecting us for three months here on earth, and all these years as a blue angel.
Officer Perez-Negron you will not be forgotten.
