Reflections for Police Officer Anthony Oswald McLean

Tony was a stand up guy. He was hard not to like and was a great Police Officers. When I got the call from my partner about Tony I was stuned, it was hard to take. From then on the job was totally different and I never looked at things the same way.
My prayers go out to his family. God bless Tony and rest easy in the lords arms.

Ofc. McLean,

Today as I opened up a magazine from November 1988 called "Official Detective" to re-read a story in it involving my dad (a ret. ofc.) who was recognized in the magazine for his and his co-workers efforts in taking a killer off the streets, I came across a story entitled "Hero Cop Slain on a Mission of Mercy". The story was about you. I just wanted you to know that you are a true hero. Thank you for your dedicated service and God bless you, your family, and your friends. Please continue to keep watch from above over everyone...always.

Brother McLean,

May the road rise up to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
And the rains fall soft upon your fields,
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Respectfully,
You’re Brothers in Blue

Not a day goes by that I don't think about you. I still work for the NYCHA and still respond to Tilden Houses. I remember talking to you about your upcoming marriage. We lived in the same neighborhood. You were that special person at PSA2 that everyone loved. A plaque hangs on the wall of PSA2. You will never be forgotten. I am a better person for knowing you. Thank You.

A Million Times

A million times we've needed you,
A million times we've cried.
If love alone could've saved you,
You would have never died.
In life we loved you dearly,
In death we love you still.
In our hearts you hold a place,
No one else could ever fill.
It broke our hearts to lose you,
But you didn't go alone.
Part of us went with you,
The day God took you home.

Tony if only I knew what you meant to me before the tragedy that befell you. You were my mentor. I will never forget your laugh. You were a helluva cop and a helluva friend. Your death changed me forever. It took away my innocence. I am a better person, a better police officer for having known you. Forever in your debt, Mike.
