Reflections for Patrolman John James McKenzie

Patrolman MacKenzie, it has been 99 years since you were taken from us. New England law enforcement has continued to thrive, learn and become safer due to the traditions and sacrifices you, your family, and many others have made for us. Thank you for your law enforcement service.

Grandpa I never got to meet you. I am your grand son John James Malone. Apparently I am named after you. Your daughter Margaret Mildred was my mother.
RIP.
In a small way you have a great great grand daughter who has the name Molly McKenzie Malone.

You never knew me, John James McKenzie, but I have come to know something of you. I'm your Great Grandson, David James LeRay Jr and also proudly served for 29 years with the MBTA Police Department out of Boston. My mother was your Grand-daughter, Barbara Ann McKenzie, your son Albert's little girl. After retiring from the T, I spent the next 11 years as a Court Security Officer at the Moakley Federal Courthouse in South Boston (Special Deputy). I did a brief stint as a Special Deputy for the Suffolk County Sheriff's Department. RIP, brother. See you on the other side.

I never knew this page was here. I am your Great Grandson and a retired Police Lieutenant after 29 years service. Your Albert was my Grandfather. May you rest in peace and know that your descendants were tough but fair. Thank you for your service.

Although we never met, you were my grandfather. You died when my father was only 11 years old. Thank you for the gift of my father, who was truly a wonderful man. Thank you for your strength and for your sacrifice. Rest in peace with your God and your family.
