I said a little prayer today for Detective McGinley and his family. He may be gone but never forgotten. He will always be a New York HERO.

My family was next door neighbors to his in an apartment in the Highbridge section in the Bronx. My older sister was 8 years old when Detective McGinley was killed. She has a distinct memory of what a fine man he was. She also remembers his funeral mass as we are not Catholic and this
was the first time she was in a church.

This was my uncle. I never got to meet him, but my father who went on to become a police officer himself and took his badge, would tell me about what a fine man he was.
