Hey Jimmy. Didn’t know you well but we crossed paths in the early 90s. You made an impression on me. Super tough guy, was my first impression. You had a great personality and we’re proud to be a cop. I heard you had passed away. What a good guy you were, off duty, trying to right a wrong and catch a bad guy. Been a long time but you’re still remembered, obviously. Semper Fi.

On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Jimmy was killed.

To the O'Conner family, fellow officers, and all who call Jimmy beloved, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in our area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I hope you received the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your continued solace. I hope that your family knows that a nation mourned for you.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Officer O'Conner gave to his community and the citizens of Illinois , and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on April 3, 1995.

Jimmy, much love to you!! CUBS WIN WORLD SERIES!!! Thought about watching the Cubs with you and your dad at the new house, an Old Style tall boy in hand. Your laugh, your smile, all the fun playing baseball and football on Monitor. I have kids now, and I wish you were here to meet them. I'm an officer now, too, and I thank you for setting the standard. I could use that left hook of yours every now and then out here. It's been 21 years since that horrible night; never got over it. You did what you had to do; St. Peter got the best when you walked thru those Pearly Gates. This is from all the Weber guys and your buddies from the old neighborhood. Love you and miss you dearly every day. En paz descances Jimmy. You are in my heart EVERY DAY Jimmy.

It doesn't seem that it's been Twenty years since you were taken from us! I didn't know you personally, but we both lived on the same street, just a few houses apart. Each day I have the pleasure of viewing the honorary street sign designated to you, attached to the light post on this street. " JIMMY O'CONNOR Dr."

Rest in peace Brother in Blue!

Jim your physical absence is heartbreaking to this very day as for the past 20 years. My heart goes out to your family and loved ones as I ask them to please accept my deepest condolences. I am both privileged and without question extraordinarily fortunate to have served with Jim O’Connor in the Fleet Marine Force 2nd Marine Division in the 10th Marines Target Acquisition Battery at Camp Lejeune 1987 - 1989. Jim influences me to this very day in a spirited way and he always will. I know it with certainty that Heavens scenes are now guarded with honor in the highest and best by Jim! As Marines we have a history. We have honor. We will die for that honor. We forever will guard the very gates of Heaven. Thank you Bro! I love you.
