Reflections for Master Trooper Dean Allen Goodheart

You have been gone almost 10 years
and you made quite an impression.
You are still in our hearts and on our
minds after all these years. Thanks
for you 23 years of service. We miss
you, Trooper!

Uncle Dean,
It will be nine years since you've been gone. I think of you often and remember how much I enjoyed being your niece. I remember our family reunion a few months before you were killed and how Jenni, Megan, Ryan and David teased you and how your dished it right back. How much fun we had!!

Thank you for your service to the HiTowPeace.

Thank you Aunt Marilyn for the work you do with Kansas COPS! It's important work and Dean would be so proud of you. Keep up the good work!

We miss you and love you!

I often visit this website after the death of two dear friends from the NCSHP (Troopers Calvin Taylor E.O.W. October 3, 2001 and Anthony Cogdill E.O.W. May 30, 2003). Both of these troopers were killed by transfer trucks who hit them as they were performing traffic stops on the side on Interstate 40.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of Trooper Goodheart. I am deeply saddened to see the death of another Trooper.

These are senseless occurances that continue to happen. Thank you so much to the men and women who continue to serve their communities and this great Nation. God Bless You.

You gave the ultimate sacrifice, you gave your life keeping the public safe. You are in a better place now! THANK YOU!

My friend and partner died in a water rescue just two months before your death. I never knew my heart could hurt so bad for a brother in blue that I never met. I have never forgotten you or your family and think of them every time I visit the memorial for my buddy. You are not forgotten, even by those that never met you.

I am sorry to hear about your loss Kansas. Trooper Goodheart, i appreciate your service of 23 years and may god be with you and your loved ones. You died on my birthday and i'm sorry that my day of celebration was your day of moving on. I will think of you on my next birthday and probably feel guilty that i continue to have the chance to be with my loved ones. I know you will meet up with your wife and family soon enough, but in the mean time keep looking down and watchin out for us.

Dean was a man for which I carried the highest regards. Regardless of how I felt, he could always make me feel on top of the world. Like I had the world by the butt. He was a very close friend to our family and is dearly missed, although not forgotten. I think of him often and smile in remembering him and his stories of life. Godspeed!

You have been gone 6 years and I miss you so much. Today would have been our 21st anniversary. I always treasure the many memories I have of us together, with our family, and with friends.

This poem is one of my favorites as it is so true:

*****
Some people come
into our lives
and quickly go.
Others stay for a while
and leave
footprints on our hearts
and we are never,
ever the same!!
