Tony Williams and I were remembering you at a recent Mt. Eden High reunion, and we were both proud of you and your heroic sacrifice. I was there that night and pursued one of the bad guys to his apartment, where he barricaded and killed himself. It's been 50 years, and I can still remember you asking me about studying together for the upcoming sergeants test, just days before it all ended. Rest in peace, you are not forgotten.

Every year since 2009 I have made the blue ribbons with the 51 names of the Oakland Police Officers who have died in the line of duty. It is my honor to do this for the fallen officers. The ribbons hang on a tree outside the Warehouse Bar and Grill in Oakland, California for all to see the sacrifice they have made to keep us safe. God bless you all and rest in peace.

A grateful citizen

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 39th anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

Two days a memorial was held for your four brothers from Oakland. Our community is mourning their loss that happened on the darkest day in OPD history.

Rest In Peace.

Bill, I will always remember your friendship and heroism. You went out saving a fellow officers life. What greater reason for your sacrifice? I wish the truly heroic details of your passing could be put here. God bless you, see you soon.
