Officer Maroney … Jim. It is now 61 years to the day. You are not forgotten. Twelve days ago we remembered you by name in a ceremony in our county. Your Sheriff was there with us as an escort for the riderless horse as we took to the grave a tombstone for one of ours who was until now forgotten. I won’t make it to your grave before next week, but I remember. Who you were, who you are, still matters. The life taken from you still matters. And the lives you left behind still matter.

Deputy Sheriff

Time may have passed but you are not forgotten. I believe as long as someone remembers you or speaks your name, you are still with us.
Thank you for your heroism.
God Bless

@ Patricia Mary Maroney Gustafson…I believe (based on my genealogy research) that James Maroney’s mother-in-law was Sadie Severson and she married Jay Scott. Further I believe that Sadie later married my natural great-grandfather. If this sounds right to you then feel free to contact me to discuss it further: plyman at roadrunner.com Best regards
PS. Thank God for brave men and woman such as this who came to save a woman from a convicted rapist only weeks after his release form prison.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 54th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

Rest In Peace.
