I grew up in Virginia Beach and was in the 8th grade when this tragic incident occurred. Many years have gone by since, but you are still not forgotten. Thank you for your service and for sacrificing your life for our community. Please keep a watchful eye from above.

I am bad with names and have forgotten many things that have occured over the past 26 years. But I have never forgotten you. I was working midnights the night you were killed in the line of duty. I was a rookie working Deep Creek when the dispatcher toned out a B.O.L. about your death. I copied all the information down about the suspect vehicle you had stopped.I remember how he lured you into a quiet side street. I grew up in that neighborhood so I knew exactly where it happened. I started looking for the suspect vehicle stunned over your death and wandering if I had what it took to catch the suspect. Several hours later we were advised over the radio that the Beach had killed the suspect. Your funeral service was the first one I ever attended. It was from your death that I learned this was not a job any person could do. It takes courage and dedication to do this job, day in and day out. When the job and all that goes with it starts to get me down. I think of you and the other fallen officers from our area and I am ready for another watch.

I went through the Va Beach Police Academy in 1985. Your bravery the day you were shot was an example to us all. As a brother Law Enforcement Officer of nearly 30 years, I am still very proud to have worked the same streets that you did so long ago. My prayers are still with you and your family.
