Reflections for Trooper Bobby L. "Bubba" Wells, Jr.

I just drove by the part of I55 that was named in his honor. He died doing an honorable job keeping us all safe on the highway. We need Troopers like him now more than ever. Thank You for a job well done Trooper Wells. We will Never forget.

I will always remember his death. It was a hot day and I had been to the Batesville crime lab the day before

Two or three times a year I put flowers on a relative's tombstone in Ackerman, and saw the tombstone for Trooper Wells, and wondered about the story behind he death. When I got home to Columbus I did a search for Trooper Wells on the Internet and found the details about his death. We do not appreciate the sacrifices law enforcement personnel make so many times. The next time I go to Ackermen, I will put flowers on this Troopers monument....

Bubba, I woke up this morning thinking about you. We were classmates and next door neighbors for many years. Your dedication to your craft or sport was always an inspiration to me. I can’t believe it has been 23 years. You and your family are in my thoughts. Until we meet again.

I knew Bubba as one of the student assistants at MSU. He was in awesome shape and worked us out at the field house doing running drills and weights. He was tough but I also felt he knew how we felt cause he had been there. He was a nice guy and highly thought of. Years later I saw him one time down at the coliseum in Jackson when he was a trooper and always regretted never going and speaking to him. I couldn't believe it when I heard he was killed. RIP Bubba.

So proud of Bubba who dispatched for MHP G District before going through MHP Class and on to patrol. I knew his voice long before meeting him and a fellow dispatcher also now trooper. He worked the radio thru some dangerous incidents and manhunts... helped keep troopers safe even before he was on the road himself. I wish I had known how to reach his folks to tell them how sorry I am - but how thankful for his service.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 17th anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.

I pray for solace for all those that love and remember you for I know both the pain and pride are forever. Thanks to your friends for sharing their devotion to you through their reflections.

Bubba, Miss you my friend. You were one of the best Troopers the state of Mississippi ever had. My heart still hurts when I pass your memorial on 55. It was an honor to call you my friend. I left the Desoto Co Sheriffs Dept in 2000 and as you know I am with MPD. Tim and I still talk about you. Will see you again at the end of my tour of duty. I'm comforted knowing you walk with the Lord.

When my nephew, Wynn McAllister, was killed in a wreck on Highway 25 South in Starkville last week, it brought back the memory of the day I found out about the death of Bubba. He was an exceptional young man who made a definite impression in my life, as did my nephew.
May God continue to bless the Wells family and to give my family the strength of walk this path with our Lord.
My love to the Wells familly.
