Reflections for Patrolman Michael Lynch

Reflecting on the murder of two NYP officers in the last few days. My grand uncle was Michael Lynch who was killed, July 1, 1911, in the line of duty. Michael was a patrolman. He was responding to a man who was shooting out windows in a building in Manhattan. According to news accounts, Michael was shot as he was entering the apartment where the gun man was.

Michael Lynch was my Grandfather and he is buried in Calvary Cemetery in Queens the family plot alongside his wife. His son, my father, also became a NYC Police Officer. Although they never meet in life they are joined together for eternity in Calvary where they lay side by side❤
