Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Ernest C. Loll

I've worked for Multnomah county for the last 23 years and live close to the place my brother Ernest fell. RIP, when I go by your memorial I always pause and reflect.

Sadly I just found out (@ 60yo) that I am the son of the man that killed this officer. I never knew my father as he died when I was 2. (1957) He died in a lumber mill accident in Roseburg. I sincerely hope it was slow for him as I am disgusted with what I just read.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 78th anniversary year of your death.

Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

Rest In Peace.

Ernest: Last May I introduced Lt. Jeff Wheeler to your story. I do the Honor Guard thing but was going to be out of town during the National week. In any event, I took Jeff by the spot where you fell, and to your Grave at Calvery Cemetary. Jeff did your annual memorial, He did you proud. I also had the reports and news articles from the day you died, I shared them with my unit. Rest Brother, not forgotten and always loved. Capt. RB (5 Adam 10)
