Family, Friends & Fellow Officers Remember...

John, I miss my friend. In December 2009 I ran into District II station to change clothes to go to a event when I walked into the roll call room I remember one of many times that we got together to plan our jokes on one or two of our fellow co-workers. We had good times and hanging out with u my good friend and brother was fun. I miss u my friend and I know that I will see you again. Oh yeah John, Karen (your beautiful wife) and I became friends and i can see why you loved her, she is a great person.

I think about you every day. We would have just celebrated our anniversary. I haven't forgotten what was taken away and what could have been. I hope you're at peace. I feel your presence still. I miss you making me laugh. Your nephew that your "corrupted" into being a police officer is now one for METRO Transit. He would make you proud, that you blessed him, not corrupted him except for your sense of sick humor. You had your witnesses. They're still here wishing you were too.

Dear John,

This time of year is very tough for me. I think of you often and all of the times you made me laugh. I know that if you were living, you would have made a career change. I pray for all of the Officers and Fire Fighters that do their job knowing they are putting their life on the line for the public.

I will be coming to see you to lay the yearly Christmas grave blanket this coming weekend pending the weather, but I wish I was coming to see you handing you a bottle of wine and a BlackHawks hat.

You were a great officer and very street smart and Steve ,well, the same can be said of him. You are both missed dearly. "The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

I think of you everday, especially now that it is fall and football and hockey is underway.

I had a very clear dream of you last night. It was like I was there with you. You were dressed in your uniform and you were driving the police car to a bridge. You got out and started walking up these steps to an area where there was alot of people. You were going to give a talk or something.

I have prayed for this morning. I truly miss you every day of my life.

I hope you are singing the praises with Mommy and Poppy as well.

You left this good earth, but you are not forgotten.

think of you every day brother. I miss you alot. Dad and I are holding on. I hope that you are holding Moms and Poppys hands in eternal peace.

Life is so precious and so many of people do not realize it!

I reflect alot when we were young playing in the old neighborhood. You were born to be a leader and in life, you were a leader. Now, I am sure you are watching over all of us guiding us everyday.

I reflect alot when you were in Baltimore and I was starting College and how you told me to be good and stay the course. You said, " I know you will drink in College, but do not drink and drive or I will break your legs" "If I find out you are doing drugs, I'll split your skull"

I smile and think of how many times you made me laugh with your gestures and stories in the field.

John, you are missed alot by all of your friends and family.

You had 31 years on this earth, and let me say thank you to God for giving me those 31 years of knowing you. In life, you were a great brother and friend to me.

By the way, RED WINGS WILL ALWAYS RULE!

Big John, it seemed like yesterday when we graduated from the Baltimore City Police Academy in 1985. I'll always remember you carrying my daughter's dresser when we were moving back in 1986, and you dropping the furniture on the ground damaging the dresser. We still have the dresser with the damage! John,

Another year has gone by and it is your birthday today. I still cannot believe that twelve years has passed already. I think about you every single day and I still have mixed emotions; I know that you are in a better place, but your life was suddenly taken away. I think about how you loved your work, even with the frustrations and anger that sometimes came about with the work. I think about how Sierra and Brandon would look up to you and love you. I think about the fun of going to baseball games, football games, and especially hockey games with you. Sometimes I am angry, sometimes I get sad, other times I feel sorry, and even bitter. You are in a better place and no amount of time will ever heal the wound that was created when your life was taken.
You and the other fallen officers will be remembered always and I will see you at the Memorial service on May 9th.

John, brother of mine and to others, I pray for you and I cherish all the memories we had growing up together as brothers.
