Your heroism and service is honored today, the thirty-first anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

I pray for solace for all those who love and remember you for I know both the pain and pride are forever.

"The Badge"

He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.

He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.

Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.

He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.

His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.

He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.

And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.

But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.

Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.

Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.

So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.

In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.

Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

I was a Trooper stationed at Baytown when you graduated from the academy. We worked together at Baytown until you got your opportunity to work closer to your home. It was an honor and a pleasure working with you. I have often thought of you and the loss to our profession and society as a whole, even though today is my first visit to this website.
You will always be remembered. Rest in peace brother.

Trooper Lacy entered my career when it was only 3 years old. I worked for Lake Dallas P.D., Denton Co., TX. at the time and was eager to learn more about my chosen career. I met Hollis during my duties, he was a friendly and outgoing person. I had plenty of questions about what it was like being a THP officer, and Hollis was happy to share it all with me, during our door to door meetings on the street. Hollis was very adept at teaching as well, since he taught me how to really use the traffic law, filling in the gaps that was not really taught at the academy. I took his teachings and turned it to my advantage throughout my career. Now I am in my 31st year of my career and reflect upon who and what was the most meaningful to me. I would have to say that Hollis Lacy was a major influence to my career and an inspiration for me to work towards traffic safety. I attempted to implement how Hollis taught me to every rookie I ever trained in the use of the traffic laws and was successful in doing so. I have to say my life was changed forever when I met Hollis, and that was a good thing, so thank you so much for your teachings and your friendship, rest in peace. January 2, 2008

Earth's loss is Heaven's gain... December 26th is my brother's birthday who passed away December 1st 2004... Now you both make Heaven a better place... Rest easy brothers--we will see each other again....

I'm Having the Time of My Life

I'm having the time of my life now, the battle is almost won

My faith is strong and my conscience is clear, and I've only begun.

To know the peace He has promised me, the joy of a job well done.

And I count my blessings along the way, And I thank Him for everyone.

I'm having the time of my like right now.

For I never thought I'd ever be given a second chance such as The Lord has given me,

To see with clearer eyes then I have ever seen before.

To know when I knock, HIS Hand will open the door.

How like a dream my old life seems, So far within the past I've traded

foolish fantasies for the things that I will know will last.

And I am strong within His strength, and precious in His sight,

Accepting all He sends, Because His ways are always right.

I'm having the time of my life right now.

Because I've learned to share everything with GOD, each minute I am here.

For He alone can read my heart. And He knows what is in my heart, and within me.

And He makes all things wonderful, because He is my friend!

Hollis, I had the pleasure of working with you for several months. I still remember the day of your accident, and I was at the Hospital when you arrived. They have erected a nice granite stone memorial at the location of your accident. I pass by it everyday, I have children now and I have taken them by the memorial. So, in some way, you will always be remembered. God's speed!!!!!
