Reflections for Detective Joseph Tucker Fisher

REST WELL TUCK,
THIS IS ROBERT A. TAYLOR FORMER LRPD PATROLMAN AND FORMER ROOKIE SCHOOL CLASSMATE OF YOURS. I WAS INFORMED OF YOUR DEATH BY ANOTHER CLASS MATE. GLEN KING SHORTLY AFTER YOU LOST YOUR LIFE IN THE LINE OF DUTY. I NEVER THOUGHT ABOUT CHECKING LRPD'S WALL OF HONOR UNTIL NOW, I'M SORRY FOR THAT MY FRIEND. HOWEVER I OFTEN THINK ABOUT HOW WE ALL TRIED TO MAKE ROOKIE SCHOOL FUN.
I KNOW YOU MET MY ARKANSAS BRIDE, SHE WAS THE REASON I APPLIED TO THE DEPARTMENT, WE HAD 3 BEAUTIFUL DAUGHTERS OF COURSE THEY ARE CAREER WOMEN NOW, BUT I ONLY HAD THE OLDEST BACK THEN.

I LOST MY WIFE TO A CARDIAC ARREST ON FATHER'S DAY 2000, I HAVE FELT THE SORROW THAT YOUR FAMILY FELT WHEN THEY LOST YOU.
REST WE'LL MY FRIEND, AFTER ALL THESE YEARS YOU ARE NOT FORGOTTEN, THAT MEANS YOU LIVE ON IN THOSE YOUR PRESCIENCE TOUCHED.

I am a former police officer, and I worked with Tucker Fisher. He was a good cop, and he was very good at his job. He was nice, and I miss him. I attended his funeral, and I remember the 21-gun solute. It was hard to believe that he was taken away so quickly. I hope, in honor of Tucker, police departments will re-think the way they enter the doors of suspected drug dealers (to make it safer for the officers). Also, I think police should consider changing the vest types, if they have not already selected better protective vests to wear.

My brother fairly recently retired from the LRPD after 20++ years of service. During the 10 years that I lived in LR whiole he was an officer, I attended 3 funerals held for his fellow officers. I considered it a priviledge to have met 2 of the fallen men. I hope I never have to go to another one, but am supremely blessed to have been able to attend those 3.

Hey Tuck,
Not gonna beat around the bushes. You were one of the craziest full of life. balls to wall guy I've ever known. I actually knew a dude you popped. Luan Ponce. That was funny as hell when we were sharing a couples of Bud Sodas and found out we , You and I had a partner in crime. I only knew him through his extended family, hand shake only. Heard he was let out of his second stint at a federal corrections facility in Homestead FL and was caught red handed will a cool million US dollars and the State department deported his damp back to Mexico. You were one of the Good guys. Miss you.
Stan the Stanimal Powell
By the way, I've taken my Son Mark Chisholm Powell by the memorial at the LRPD off ice and also taken six boy scouts by there to tell them what it means to be a hero and to never back down from your worst fear. If you made a difference in any ones life, it is seven young men.

Do me a favor, although I'm older than you and might be a little tougher, still keep a watch over me in your free time.

To the Fisher Family,
My name is Jong Lee and I had the privilege of attending LRPD academy with your father. I warmly remember his easy going manner and steadfast manner. I recall, as rookies, we occasionally rode together and it was a great experience. That would have been in the 83-85 timeframe. Surely different times in LR....
It was a web search on a lark that I found out with great sadness your father's death.
Please accept my condolences.

I left LRPD prior to date of death. we were on the same squad for a while while I was a rookie at the time. Tucker was fun to be around on and off duty. He loved to do his Starksy and Hutch turn arounds in the squad car. He and the good times arae not forgotten.

I was in my senior year of college and was awarded an internship with Little Rock Police Department's Crime Scene Unit. I came to work the morning after Det. Fisher was shot. The mood and atmosphere around the P.D. was like nothing I had ever witnessed before. My father was a career police officer, so I was always very sensitive to an officer losing his life in the line of duty. This was the first time however that I would witness the impact from close range. I attended his funeral a few days later and was overwhelmed with the show of support from his law enforcement family. I began my career in law enforcement five months later. Det. Fisher's death really set the tone for my career. It made me realize the seriousness of the job, but I think more importantly, it made me appreciate the unique bond that the law enforcement family shares. I have been on the job for fifteen years now and unfortunately, I have attended many more Police Officer's funerals. I love my job today more than the day I started. I often think of Det. Fisher and his sacrafice. May God bless his family! Rest in peace.

To Detective Joseph Tucker Fisher and his loved ones:

On this the fourteenth anniversary of your tragic death, please know that your memory is honored and revered today.

My heart is with your daughter Brook and all other family members who call you beloved. They are all in my thoughts and prayers today.

Tuck, I know that you rescued us, saved our lives and our families. You are one of the rare heroes among us. You were always there for us in the most traumatic moments of our lives. No matter when we called, we just expected that you would come and do whatever it took to help us, and you always met our expectations. Your selflessness and dedication are awe-inspiring.

This world, this country, your community truly are better places because of you. To have lost you is a great tragedy, an irreplaceable, immeasurable loss for society. We are grateful for and to you, and honor you for all you did for us day in and day out whether you received a word of thanks or praise.
