A truly sad day in the HAPD. Det Al Boesch was a valued member of a highly trained and effective entry team attempting to serve a search warrant when he suffered a fatal heart attack. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Boesch family and they will always be remembered.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 17th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never dimishes respect and you will always be honored and revered. I pray for solace for all those who love and miss you for I know both the pain and pride are forever.

Rest In Peace

You & the countless other heros are never forgotten. You live on in the memories of the living & gain a certain immortality. there is nothing as priceless as a memory.

I paid a visit to the NYPD Police museum recently and saw your badge up there, I was overcome with a lot of memories. When I first met you during field training In PSA 8 I was impressed by your fearlessness and work ethic. You had a great sense of humor and a boundless love for your family, which I know was your driving force behind all your success. I know I speak for everyone who worked with you in 8 and in Housing Narcotics when I say you are missed.

In the housing police we had a saying, " The NYC Housing Police we are second to none". If there is the slightest ring of truth to our saying , it is because of officers such as Al Boesch, who gave more than 100 percent and treated poeple with respect. I was a rookie when I met Al, he was a class act, treated me well and gave me advice. It was an honor to have worked with him.

Dective Boesch, today marks the 14th anniversay of your tragic passing. I can clearly see from the reflections already left that you were loved and respected by those who knew you. Though your department is a part of history now, it is not forgotten. You too are a part of history, a sad history that should never have been written. I know you are missed terribly.

God Bless and may you continue to Rest in Peace, Brother.

Hey bro,

Forever in my heart. I love you and miss you so much it hurts. It feels like my right arm has been cut off. I think about you everyday of my life, and my life has and will never be the same since you are gone. I remember all the trouble and fun we had as kids. I miss how even though I am your older sister you always came to my aid. You were the most special person in my life. You would be so proud of your son Brendan in that picture. He is so handsome and looks exactly like you!!! He is now 19 years old and in college. Dylan who was 7 months when you died is another carbon copy of you. My own son Thomas look like a carbon copy of you and I sometimes call him al. I just send my love, kisses and hugs to where ever you are and to Ryan too. Until we meet again I will always love and miss you -- your sister Jeanne

"The Badge"

He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.

He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.

Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.

He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.

His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.

He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.

And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.

But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.

Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.

Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.

So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.

In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.

Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

Hey Al,

1/21/95 was one of the hardest days I had as a police officer. I think of that day often and remember everyone (NEU and Bike Unit), in the lounge laughing and preparing prior to leaving to execute that warrant. Little did we realize we would lose you soon after. You were a good friend and Great Cop. You are not forgotten. I have the NYS FOP Police Memorial on my post in Hicksville and have have visited it often in tribute to you and others. God bless you and your family.
