There are three types of people in this world: sheep, wolves, and sheepdogs. Some people prefer to believe that evil doesn't exist in the world and if it ever darkened their doorstep, they wouldn't know how to protect themselves. Those are the sheep. Then you've got predators, who use violence to prey on the weak. They're the wolves. And then there are those blessed with the gift of aggression, an overpowering need to protect the flock. These men are the rare breed who live to confront the wolf. They are the sheepdog. …You know who you are. You know your purpose.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 100th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Officer Knapp,
On today, the 97th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for the citizens of Albuquerque. I think it was a miscarriage of justice that your murderer only served 10 years for your murder-it's sad to say that the New Mexico legal system was as screwed up then as it is now.

Even though I did not know you, I would have been honored to say that I did. You gave the ultimate and I will never forget that. You are fallen, but not forgotten.
