Reflections for Deputy Sheriff John R. Klem, III

Deputy Klem,
I never had the priveledge of meeting you, but have been a friend of your son, John, for many years. We all know that every day we pin on the badge that it is a posiblilty we might not make it home. This is something we all live with and accept to protect the citizens of our area. The day you gave the ultimate sacrifice, you were doing what any of us who wear a badge do, protect no matter what the cost. Even though I never met you, I know you were a good man. I know this through your son, Forrest 19. He is a good a fair man and I know you look down upon him and see that. He carries on your legacy well. Know that he is watched after. Rest in peace brother, we have the watch. "Blessed are the peacemakers..."

Deputy Klem, I never met you but I am a friend of your son. You are to be commended for your work not only as a deputy but also as a father. Your legacy continues everyday that Forrest 19 goes on duty. Thank you for your sacrifice to our community and know that I pray for you and your family daily. Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the sons of God.

P.S.- I'll do my best to keep your son and family safe.

I did not know Mr. Klem, but I know his son, John. I worked with him at Forrest County Sheriff's Office. I know that Mr. Klem is looking down proud. John has been an excellent reflection of what law enforcement really is; in brotherhood, friend and mentor to many.

To Deputy John Klem IV. Your three simple words, "I Miss You Dad" really say it all for you and really touch me deeply. Please know that, although we have never met and live many states apart, my family and I prayed for your Dad today and are keeping you in our thoughts. Your Dad is a hero...I say "IS" because his spirit lives on in you. I am certain that he is smiling down upon you from heaven, so very proud of his Son who despite the tragic loss, still carries on his profession with pride and professionalism. You have proven that your Dad did not give his life in vain...rather you have proven to his cowardly attacker that one cannot break the resolve of those of us who have served as peace officers. May God Bless You and give you strength.

John, I know the pain of losing one's father. I do hope he's resting in peace. I'm sure he's watching you from above. Hang in there! Sewstrait
