Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Patrol Agent John Donald Keenan

I would like to reflect of an incident I feel is quite significant when I say Johnny was a caring and compassionate person.
When John was about 11 years old, he was worried about how we were going to get Christmas presents for his brother and sister. I was working two jobs and could not afford to buy presents or a dinner for my children. One evening walking home from work, (very depressed) seeing all the houses lit up for Christmas it cemented the feeling that I could not buy even a tree. I saw and helped other customers buy gifts for their children. As I neared my house, I noticed the two little bushes in front on my house with Xmas tree lights on. I couldn't figure out who did it. When I arrived home, Johnny came out and said Merry Christmas mom. I smiled and gave him a hug and then he took my hand and led me inside. In the corner of the front room were 5 presents that he had bought himself from his money he earned delivering newspapers and washing windows. We had no tree, yet, that was not that important, it was the thought and caring my son Johnny showed in wanting to make his sisters and brother and me happy. I always said that Johnny was a caring and compassionate person and he grew up caring for people less fortunate then himself. It was the best and most significant Christmas I ever had and I shall never forget it. I have told this story to his children, his nephews and now it needs to be told here. He will always be my Johnny no matter now old he is. To me what he did reflects the true spirit of Christmas and tells one what Johnny was like.
Love always and forever til we meet again.
Your Mom

Dear John,
I regret we never had the opportunity to meet due to that terrible night. Shortly after your passing I met Barbara, Christina, and John. They have remained a special part of my life since. As a close family friend I owe it to you to thank you for all you did and the positive influences you bestowed on those around you. You will always be remembered...

Sincerely,
Trisha Lytle

There is not a day that passes that I do not think of you, and your wonderful spirit. You had a passion for life,an enormous amount of love for your family and friends and true dedication to your job. I could not have asked for more in a father I was blessed to have you as my dad and I cherish every moment I had with you. You are my inspiration and what makes me strive to be a better person, if I'm able to give an ounce of what you gave to all those who knew you I would die a happy person. You were and always will be the best man I have ever known, you are my hero and I miss you terribly. I know one day we will all be together again and watch the fireworks from the most beautiful view imagineable.
Love Your Daughter

That fateful night still lives in my memory, but the preceeding days and weeks that were full of John's smiling face, and practical jokes shine brightly. I'm glad to say that he was a great friend and co-worker. Rest in Peace, brother..

John, your mom and I miss you and think of you everyday. There isn't a day that goes by that we don't think of you. You have been an inspiration to you nephews whom you have never seen, Raymond and Johnny and Griffon and your only neice Allison. They ask about you all the time and Johnny wants to be just like you. Raymond looks up to you as his hero and role model. Griffon thinks you are his hero too.
I have only seen you a few times but it was enough to know that you are one special guy. Iam proud to call you son.
love from Ray.
