Reflections for Patrolman Mickey Gene Johnson

Hello from Belmont, California, and from San Jose where on March 8, 2013, I attended the funeral for two fallen officers from Santa Cruz and Leon Panetta gave a eulogy which is on youtube and may be helpful to others suffering losses. It is helpful to me.

My son, Officer Micky Johnson. Rest in God's arms until I come. You have been gone from our home now for almost 35 years. I still miss you, so much. I still love you. You and your beautiful blue eyes will always be in my heart.

You have been honored by your fellow police officers and your many friends and family in so many ways. I am so proud of you for the service that you so willingly gave to the citizens of Belmont. Your job was very important to you, and you did it well. You paid the ultimate sacrifice for the town that you loved. It has been said that you were true blue Belmont, and that, I believe.

So rest in God's arms until I come. I love you.

To the family of Patrolman Mickey Gene Johnson,

I can only imagine the difficult time this is to be faced with the knowledge that your officer's killer could go free. Thanks to ODMP I was notified of this and my letter has been composed and sent to the Parole Board. I hope that his killer stays behind bars.

I do not nor did I know your officer but if I can do this to for him, and for you, for his service and sacrifice, it is my honor.

Thank you Officer Johnson for your bravery and for paying the ultimate sacrifice for the fine folks in Mississippi. I just signed and sent in a letter to the parole board so that your cowardly killer never see the light of day again !!!! You and my family are in my prayers.

You are a true AMERICAN HERO!!! May you always rest in peace, my brother...

Had Mickey's life been spared, he would be 54 years old on his birthday in December. He was denied the opportunity to become a husband, father and grandfather. Therefore his loved ones lost not only a son and brother, they lost an entire lineage with his untimely death at the age of 20.

Only God knows how many lives may have been saved by this Officer had he been allowed to live.

A message will be sent to the Mississippi Parole Board on September 30th 2011, requesting that his killer be denied parole.

God bless the Johnson family and friends of this forever young police officer.

Dear Officer Johnson and family; I hope you don't feel that your son is forgotten. We may not know each Officer personally, but these brave men and women are honored in our hearts as true heroes. I am sending a letter to the Parole Board, in hopes that Officer Johnson's murderer will never be set free. It saddens me greatly that Parole should even be considered. Thank you Officer Down for the privilege of honoring our brave Officers.

To the Family of Officer Johnson.
I have often thought about your son and what he must have faced during this stop. I began my Law Enforcement career in Belmont under Chief Roy Nunley and now Chief Donald Reno, I was 21 yrs old at the time when I started and I had been working almost a month and I made a traffic stop in the same location of where your son was slain. After the stop was over Donald Reno told me the story of what had happened to Officer Johnson and I will never forget the feeling that came over me. Officers like my self do a job everyday and we never think about our lives but only saving the lives and property of others. I have over 23 years as a Law Enforcement Officer in Tishomingo County and I thank the Lord above that I can come home after every shift. My deepest sympathy goes out to you.

"ONCE A POLICE OFFICER, ALWAYS A POLICE OFFICER"

A PRAYER I SHARE AS OFTEN AS POSSIBLE... R.I.P. My Brother. God's Speed & Blessings for all the lives you touched... Peace of the Heart to all you knew...

St. Michael,
Heaven's glorious Commissioner of Police, who once so neatly and successfully cleared God's premises of all its undesirables, look with kindly and professional eyes on you earthly force. Give us cool heads, stout hearts, hard punches, an uncanny flair for investigation and wise judgment. Make us the terror of burglars, the friend of children and law-abiding citizens, kind to strangers, polite to bores, strict with law-breakers and impervious to temptation. You know Saint Michael, from your own experiences with the devil that the policeman's lot on earth is not always a happy one; but your sense of duty that so pleased God, your hard knocks that so surprised the devil, and your angelic self-control give us inspiration. And when we lay down our night sticks, enroll us in your Heavenly Force, where we will be as proud to guard the throne of God as we have been to guard the city of men.
Amen

GA. & WI. *City Patrolman & Deputy of Rock Co.

To the family of Trooper Johnson, blood and work. Please keep the killer in jail where he belongs. No killer of law enforcement should ever get out of jail...they should spend their final day in jail for the bad acts they have committed. Frankly I beleive they should be given a death sentence.

Mickey was such a great person. I had the honor of getting to know Mickey very well as I was growing up, and am classmates and friends with his sister, Marsha. Although he was a bit older than me, he was a very positive role model for me and my friends. I don't know that I have ever met a more caring, compassionate person than Mickey was. We now are afforded the privilige of honoring him on September 14 by naming highway 25 in his home town "Mickey Johnson Memorial Highway". This was initiated by a board member, Pat Allen, who served on the Belmont Board of Aldermen at the time of his death. Current Chief Donald Reno, along with Senator J. P. Wileman saw it thru from start to finish. We will never forget what he and his family sacrificed for our community.

To the family of Patrolman Johnson:
I wanted to offer my sympathies on your murder in the line of duty. You were taken from your family, community and fellow police way too soon. You were a true and brave hero until the end. When I googled this site I usually find some tragic and compelling event and you were only 20 practically out of high school and you should be admired for the profession you chose. You made your folks and family proud and were an inspiration to all. My dad was one of NYCPDs finest for almost 40 years. Rest in peace Patrolman Johnson and rest assured you won"t be forgotten.
