Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Detective Harold A. Jacob

Tragically, his son Henry "Buddy" Jacob also died of a massive heart attack shortly after his retirement from the same Safe, Loft and Truck Squad.

SAFE, LOFT & BURGLARY SQUAD. Formally an elite NYPD unit, that sadly few New York City cops even know about. What a shame. These detectives were the best of the best! An Harold Jacob was one of them. The unit was changed to the SAFE, LOFT & TRUCK SQUAD and disbanded in 1994. John Gotti got his first pinch from this unit. It is a shame the current members of the NYPD are not taught, or at least given some information on this great unit.

Rest in peace Detective Jacob. Someone from the Officers Down Memorial Page should immediately correct your age to the proper one. Always a hero. My dad served with the 102nd precinct for thirty-eight years.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 45th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never dimishes respect, not even 45 years. I pray for solace for all those who love and miss you for I know both the pain and pride are forever.

Rest In Peace

I had the opportunity to work with Detective "Buddy" Jacob while we both were assigned to the Safe,Loft and Truck Squad. He followed in his fathers foot steps, both being great detectives, fine men who were looked up to by his peers. Both are missed and will never be forgotten.
