Rest in peace Trooper Whiting.

On the exact date, 23 years ago today I was involved in a shooting incident that could have taken my life as well. Thankfully I was able to recover from the shooting but had to retire shortly after. I will never forget this date nor will I ever forget Trooper Whiting who paid the ultimate sacrifice on this same date.

I knew Dave at Camp Lejeune NC as a member of the Military Police, I was very blessed to have that way too funny jarhead in my life. I've thought about him over the years and that alone would always make me smile. I'm so very sorry for the family and his brothers in blue. May you rest in peace Dave. All my love my brother

Dave,
I still think of you often. I am so happy you reached your dream of being a Mass State Trooper, you sure talked about it a lot. I could not have asked for a better roommate at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina. We had a lot of good times. I hope you are getting some well deserved rest. I am not surprised about all the awesome posts, you deserve it.
Until we meet again....

First, I did not know this page existed or i would have responded sooner
Second, on behalf of my family, I want to thank everyone for their kind words. We think of David every day. My middle daughter now goes to college at Fitchburg State and we took her to visit the Leominster Barracks during her frshman year. All the troopers on duty were kind and took us for a tour of the Barracks
Once again thank you all

Trooper Whiting, Friend David - The fact that 17 years has gone by and people are still reflecting on your spirit says volumes on the person that you were. You taught me to be the best I could be every day. When times get tough I still hear your voice in my head telling me to do what is right, what is honest. And none of us will forget your goofiness, your silliness. I wish your family and friends peace and happiness.

Dave,
I only knew you through your brotherman LCpl J-Ro, USMC but you definitely affected my life with your humor and your loyalty as a true friend to one of my own best friends. I can't imagine how he and everyone else who ever had the pleasure of knowing you dealt with your tragic loss.....and I got to know quite a few of those folks pretty well at your services and subsequently. I do think of you very often and I deeply respect and admire you for your brave and honorable service to one of the finest law enforcement agencies in the world, the Massachusetts State Police. I really hope you're in a better place brother and God Bless. 567 brother
