I recently have acquired some information that leads me to believe that Stephen F. House was my biological father. I do not know if this is true yet. My name is Andrew Wieber I was born in Rockville Centre, NY June 19, 1978. I can be reached at [email protected] if anybody can help me contact any of my surviving family members. From what I have been reading about Stephen he seemed to have been an amazing person and police officer. I am deeply moved by his tragic death even though it was so many years ago.

Steve was my firearms instructor in 1984. His wit and humor made our class laugh. He was concerned for everyone's skills and techniques hoping to keep us safe and to survive in our careers. He was a great officer and instructor. His impact on hundreds, if not thousands of officers was immeasurable! His spirit lives on. God bless his family, and God rest your soul Steve!

My dad told me some stories about you in the Albuquerque Police Academy in 1980, he also had some photos of you at the gun range and with other cadets/new officers enjoying some brews on graduation night. He described you as "badass" when talking about your defensive skills/martial arts. He also informed me of this tragedy. Some say a person dies twice, once physcally and 2nd when the last of their friends or family passes on and their name is no longer mentioned. Your legend lives on. God Bless

I want to reflect My deepest regrets. I am responsible for not being there for your dad and Cammy. let me explain.. I was the babysitter. your dad tried to change his schedule. (at the time I was a victim of a violent relationship.) and my husband refused to let me work for them anymore. so he had to continue with his regular schedule or the new program. I have lived with this guilt since that day. I wish I could turn back the clock for you ;family. Please forgive my weakness. god bless you

This is to the family of Steve House. Steve Jr, you are right, your dad was an amazing man. I had the pleasure, nay, the honor to have been able to call him a friend. I first met your dad as a cadet in the police academy where he taught me self defense and arrest techniques. Of course, he was very professional, wise, and loved what he was doing. I just thought that this would mean something to you, to know that I acutally knew your father and worked with him. He was a very joyful soul along with his professionalism. There were many times I recall him using akito in a joking manner at the squad room to make me say "Uncle" or whatever else he wanted me to say. I just want you to know, as someone that knew your dad, that he was the ultimate--- extremely caring, so caring that your mom and him just three weeks before his end of watch, insisted that I stay on their couch while going thru a very stressful time for me. I loved him like a brother because of who he was. Finally, you can bet that you and your siblings, will meet him in heaven because of the great man that he was. He lives in my memory daily.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 23rd anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect and your memory will always be honored and revered.

I pray for solace for all those who love and remember you for I know both the pain and pride are forever. Your family is in my heart's embrace today. Thanks to your son for sharing his devotion to you in his memories. I too understand the meaning of a life-altering event.

Rest In Peace

I went everyday to the trial of the murderer of Officer House. I remember Officer House's sweet wife. May God watch over her and her children.

I sit here typing my reflection with tears in my eyes after reading the reflection from years ago written by Steven. No child should have to suffer the loss of a parent so young.

Rest assured Steven your Daddy is with you, every day, watching over you and loving you.

He is not forgotten.

Though I never knew him, I will mourn this deep loss the rest of my life. So many of our beloved officers have been, and continue to be, taken from us. Whether it was today or decades ago, we mourn them all and never forget the deep sacrifice they made; the price they paid that we might continue in safety and freedom. May the family and friends of this beloved officer be comforted in knowing that God never fails, and may He continue to comfort & sustain you as you hold the memory of this dear one in your heart.

"The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

What a tragic and senseless loss! It truly saddens me to read that your four children had to grow up fatherless, but justice was never served. You lived and died a hero, and your ultimate sacrifice will never be forgotten. Please keep a watchful eye over your family and your fellow brothers in blue.
