Your assailants may have never been captured and brought to justice after committing such a cowardly act, but they surely faced the highest justice there is at a later time and in a different place. Rest in peace and always know that no passage of time will ever erase you service and sacrifice.

You were my Great Great Grandfather. You are the only other blood relative I have in law enforcement. I have heard stories of your life and death. The newspaper article of your death hangs on the wall in my apartment. I make sure to tell the story of your sacrifice to my family, friends and fellow law enforcement officers every chance I get.

RIP Great Great Grampa.
