Detective Terry, I am thinking of you and your family and friends in the wake of all the recent murders of our Seattle area law enforcement officers. I cannot believe it has been more than fifteen years since your murder, I remember it like it was yesterday. Thank you so much for your service.

Detective Terry, May God be with your soul and comfort your wife and children. Even though your killer's sentence has been reduced by the courts, God will have the final say, and there will be no appeal! I still remember your funeral service, all of the grateful people of Seattle who lined the streets to honor you, and the sadness on Mrs. Terry's face at the cemetery. You will never be forgotten. You are a true hero!

Detective Terry,

Today your family will once again face your killer in court as he is sentenced after entering a guilty plea in a plea bargain. Sadly, the maximum he will face in prison is only 20 years. However, the relief of knowing that the appeals, overturned convictions and legal maneuvering over the past 14 years will finally come to an end will hopefully be a source of relief for your beloved family. May justice finally be served.

Detective Terry,

It is beyond belief that your family continues to be victimized by the criminal justice system. Your killer should remain in prison until he is carried out in a wooden box. Yet, he could be out of prison in 6 years due to time off for 'good' behavior and time served.

We pray that justice will be served, if not in this life, then in the next.

Decent citizens appreciate your service. You are not forgotten; rest in peace, sir.

I am so glad to hear today that your killer has finally admitted and plead guilty. It can't bring you back, but it helps in some small way, even all these years later.

I pray for your wife and children and all those you left behind daily.

"The Badge"

He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.

He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.

Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.

He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.

His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.

He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.

And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.

But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.

Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.

Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.

So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.

In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.

Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

I read this officer's story and I had to leave a message. This officer, although in plain clothes, working undercover still remembered his duty as an officer to "protect and serve".

It is unfortunate that the one's he believed to be stranded motorists were out to do him harm when his only intention was to "protect and serve" them.

God bless this officer for he fulfilled his duty as a police officer whether that be by locking up drug dealers or helping someone with car problems on the side of the road.

God has a special place in His kingdom for those that dedicate themselves to helping others.

Respectfully,

A fellow Peace Officer.

Wow. At the time of your murder I was just about to graduate high school. I can distinctly remember the times, the "everybody wanted to be a gangster" craze, the music at the time rapping about killing cops. I just remember in general the "hate cops" mentality of that time. I'm sure it still exists. As I've grown up since then I have come to learn that officers are people, they are husbands, brothers, fathers, sons. You, the brave & dedicated put on your uniforms and take the risks and unfortunately sometimes make the sacrifice.
It seems as if each officer I hear or read about loved their job, their community, and their fellow officers. I find a little comfort believing that you all seem to live a life you love.
I remember the day you were killed. Now, I will remember you. Thank you for your service.

Antonio, wow, 12 years have passed since you were killed. I will always remember bumping into you (literally) coming around the corner in the N.Pct two nights before you died. Never would I have thought that was the last time I'd see you. Two days before your funeral I was speaking to a class of 7th graders (kids only a few years younger than the guy that shot you) on personal accountability, when one of them asked if I knew you. There I was, in uniform, supposedly a big, tough cop, and I started to cry. I appologized for my tears and the teacher (God bless him) said, "It's okay, police officers are human too. It's good for the kids to see that you have feelings just like anyone else". It is something I remember to this day. I sure hope the students have. I know it sometimes seems the public has forgotten that fact, but at times like your death, and most recently, Jack's ('05) and Lito's (last week), the public amazes me with their concern, prayers, sympathy, and love. We miss you, Antonio.

AT, I often come to this place when I need reaffirmation of my purpose. When I view your memorial, and remember our words to each other the night before you were taken from us....it seems as though I'm being pushed to train people harder and stay the course. I will do just that in your honor....maybe we can still do that one buy-bust together. We still run to the gunfire...not away from it. I love and miss you.....BigDaddy

ONE MOMENT

In the whisper of the wind,
I felt God embrace me.
As the voice of a loved one,
I heard God speak to me
Looking in a mirror
I saw God smile at me.
One moment and I knew
That God and I were one.
