To My Father-In-Law ~
Although we never had the chance to meet, your spirit is kept alive through my extraordinary husband and through our son, Luke James Herman. Together, we make sure that our son will grow up knowing you as Grandpa through Lyle's shared memories and stories just as I have grown to know you as my second father. I thank you eternally for raising such an incredible son who I cherish as my husband and the father of our child.
You Are Loved And Missed And Will Never Be Forgotten

While off duty, you gave the ultimate sacrifice for another person under dangerous circumstances. You are honorably thanked and saluted. You'll always be remembered.

REST IN PEACE.

YOU WERE THE FEATURED OFFICER FOR 12/27/05 I DONT ALWAYS LEAVE A REFLECTION BUT YOUR STORY WAS A LITTLE DIFFERENT IN THAT YOU REALLY MAY NOT HAVE HAD TO INTERVENE IN THE ASSAULT AS YOU WERE OFF DUTY. BUT YOU DID THE RIGHT THING AND PUT YOUR LIFE ON THE LINE AND ULTIMATLEY GAVE IT IN DEFENSE OF OTHERS. FOR THIS SACRIFICE YOU SHOULD RECIEVE MANY HONORS AND THANKS. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE IN HELPING TO KEEP OUR COUNTRY SAFE. EVEN THOUGH I LIVE ON THE OTHER COAST, IT IS A TEAM EFFORT IN EVERY JURISDICTION. THANK YOU AGAIN AND REST IN PEACE.

What a wonderful brother-in-law. We think of you all the time and miss you dearly. You left such an impression on everyone that crossed your path. Your brother, my husband, misses you so much and we always have talks about the both of you. You and he have a special bond that will always be there even though you are both apart at this time. My son loves you dearly too and misses you. He dreams about you often as we all do and shares his dreams with us. We will always keep your memory alive. You have a heart of gold and are loved by all.

To the family and friends of Officer Lyle Herman and officers of the California Dept. of Corrections:

On behalf of our entire family, we wish to extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Officer Herman was so tragically killed.
Although he has been dead for sixteen years,he is not forgotten, but remembered and revered.

How sad that this dedicated young officer died so young leaving a loving family. How nice that his family continues to carry on his legacy. His valor and bravery will be forever remembered.

May you all be comforted by the warm embrace of the circle of love and support from the law enforcement community, and other police survivors.

Our family shares your agony as we lost our beloved Larry Lasater of the Pittsburg, Ca Police Dept. when he was fatally shot during a foot pursuit of two bank robbers. We grieve for you and with you.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Lyle gave to his community and the citizens of California, and the supreme sacrifice which he and his family made on June 22, 1989.
