Reflections for Patrolman A. J. Hedgpath

Trooper Hedgpath, You have been recently honored in Laurinburg by our great state and the Highway Patrol. We have dedicated the bridge at US-74 and US-401 in your name. This bridge is in an area that will be seen by thousands every day. I was at the ceremony and was introduced to some of your extended family. They were very grateful for this recognition.
I have passed through the curve where your collision happened and I think about it often. That same curve has claimed many vehicles since your death. Some of them were even officers' vehicles.
Thanks for being a great Trooper.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 78th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service to my home state and the birthplace of my son. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Rest In Peace
