Your heroiism and service is honored today, the 96th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

I am the great grandson of William Hayes. Officer Hayes had a son Oral, who was 23 when his dad was killed. He drove the team that hauled his dad to the hospital after the shooting. I heard many stories of my great grandfather's death from my grandfather as I was growing up.

I have the newspaper clippings of the event and the after math of the shooting and hanging. I would like to have any other information of this event that anyone has or knows about.
