Norman
Your information is incorrect. Farest had 2 sons, Billy and Jack (Jack was my father). Once Farest had passed, his wife moved with the boys back to her hometown of Sulligent, AL.
The judge you’re referring to was Farest’ brother.

Thanks for all the heartfelt comments.

Forest J. Harris is my third cousin, my mother has recounted his story to me for many years now, sadly the family had lost touch with Forest and his story. Forest was my great grandmother's nephew and his dad's name was Franklin. From what I understand Forest had three children and his widow later remarried and moved to Florida. If true the story is that one of his children may have become a judge somewhere around Labelle or Ft. Myers Florida, if I have my information correct, which comes from my mother who received the information from her grandmother Forest's aunt. Please post a response to me if you're one of his children or grandchildren, we would like to find out more information about the family. Speaking as a relative of Forest, thank you everyone for your beautiful comments and the memorial.

Officer Harris,
On today, the 72nd anniversary of your murder, I would like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for the citizens of Birmingham. It took another year, but your murderer got the justice that he deserved.

No Officer that gave his life should be without reflection. "For those who pledge to uphold it, freedom requires a sacrifice the protected will never know."
