Reflections for Sergeant Major George W. Harrelson

I became friends with the four children and widow of Sgt. Maj.
Harrelson in 1954, well after his tragic accident. The oldest two were twin brothers and we were classmates in elementary and high school. The family of Sgt. Major. Harrelson were rightfully proud of the position and dedication of this honorable man.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 61rst anniversary year of your death. I am priviliged to be among the first to leave a tribute to you. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.

"Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours;and their works do follow them." (Revelation 14:13)

Sergeant Major Harrelson,
Thank You. You made the decision to become a GSP Trooper, knowing the danger, accepting the risk, paying the ultimate price. You deserve to be honored. May your memory never die.
