There's a wild west story involving my Great Great Grandpa Sherif Carl Hansen of McHenry County and a band of cowboys riding down to Velva, ND. They sole back the county seat and restored it to Towner, ND where it sits today.

William was my Great Uncle Once-Removed, following in his father's footsteps as a law enforcement officer. As we honor the thin blue line this National Police Week, I remember William, his father Carl, and all the men and women who keep us safe here at home.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 63rd anniversary year of your death.

Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

Rest In Peace.

Phyllis Lasater Loya
mom of fallen Pittsburg (CA) officer Larry Lasater
