Reflections for Police Officer Forrest Allen Hall

He was my neighbor with his new wife
He worked on my bicycle for me and spent time talking with me. I was 12 at that time.
I was across the street from the gas station
( I just got a gallon of gas, for lawn mower)
On that day. . I saw the gunman shooting at and chasing his wife. Saw officer Hall running toward the scene and what happened. I believe it was Sargent Fink ( could be wrong on name ) take suspect into custody After hiding in the doorway, I believe it was a state liquor store. I walked to the police station and stood outside with a crowd of people. I was in shock I now realize. After what seemed like hours I wandered home. I told my Father what I had seen. He said to keep it to myself that they had plenty of grownups taking care of it.
It’s been along time ago and I think about him and his wife from time to time.
You were a kind and gentle person and I remember you with fondness
And Honor you duty and bravery. Plus the love for the people of Owego

Alan was married to my cousin Judy Mathewson May 10, 1969. The tragic death of this fine young man not only affected Judy's life, but those of his family. I did not get a chance to meet him, but had looked forward to it. May he rest in peace.
