Where once the scar left by death was a painful reminder of lost love, that same love will someday claim the power to transform that scar into a permanent remembrance of joy.
Forever missed but not forgotten on this the 22nd Anniversary of our loss, however you remain a strong presence in our day to day lives and for that we are grateful.

They say there is a reason
They say that time will heal
But neither time nor reason
Will change the way we feel
For no one knows the heartache
That lies behind our smiles
No one knows how many times
We have broken down and cried
We want to tell you something
So there won't be any doubt
You're so wonderful to think of
But so hard to be without

Where there is deep grief, there was great love
Forever holding onto the memory of you

Father it's me your youngest, and I just wanted to stop by and let you know I was thinking of you today..again i think of you and it helps me to march forward. Sometimes it gets easy when your in my thoughts, and sometimes I hate that your gone because you had so much more living to do, loving, caring, and family to enjoy. I miss you like it was just yesterday, and that lady came to me and said your friends were here to take me home, and that i needed to be strong because i was your youngest, and they told me it would be ok. Well, its not ok, i cant always be strong like you were but im trying. I love you Dad!

My dad wrote and recorded this poem 30 years ago this week, after a treacherous night stranded on the job away from his family. Take a listen to it, I did the editing and video. If the link ever breaks, just search for his name on YouTube. Merry Christmas!

Like A Comet
Blazing 'Cross The Evening Sky
Gone Too Soon

Like A Rainbow
Fading In The Twinkling Of An Eye
Gone Too Soon

Shiny And Sparkly
And Splendidly Bright
Here One Day
Gone One Night

Like The Loss Of Sunlight
On A Cloudy Afternoon
Gone Too Soon

Like A Castle
Built Upon A Sandy Beach
Gone Too Soon

Like A Perfect Flower
That Is Just Beyond Your Reach
Gone Too Soon

Born To Amuse, To Inspire, To Delight
Here One Day
Gone One Night

Like A Sunset
Dying With The Rising Of The Moon
Gone Too Soon

Hard to imagine yesterday was your 65th Birthday! Happy Birthday and certain retirement dad!

The below link is of a poem you wrote about the blizzard of 1982 and your inability to make it home on Christmas Eve. It's great to hear your voice...

As the holidays approach I just wanted to leave a note of thanks for all that you were in our lives. The happy memories we all shared still reflects in our day to day living. Your wonderful sense of humor passed down to your children makes life a bit more bearable. Roland you taught them well to appreciate a healthy dose of humor to help with difficulties in the uncertain road of Life. You would be proud. Still Missed and Always Loved, Your Family

I just got back from DC & visited your name on the wall for the 2nd time. It's also on a kiosk of the crime & punishment museum. I never knew this cyber spot exhisted - times have changed and I'm sorry you didn't make it to retirement like me. I enjoy reminising about our "big" case with your family & friends. I am honored to have worked with you and to have been a friend.
