Hi Alby
I am thinking of you so much this week so you must be close.
The family is ok. Your cousin needs strength at this time.
Give him a hand, OK?
Some bumps along the road but we remain strong.
That’s how the Gelbs roll
Miss you every day.

Thank you, Christian Durante.
It means so much to me that, after all these years, you would make an effort to provide a picture of my brother.
Wishing you the best.

Hi Alby
So tonite is the Court officers dinner in your honor. I am stuck at home because I couldn’t fly. I have ear infections in both ears.
The rest of the family was there to honor your name.
We have a new baby in the family Alby. Alyssa Irma Is a beautiful little girl. It’s wonderful to see the Gelb family growing.
We are truly blessed.
Please continue to watch over this family and to keep us from any harm. You know my heart. See what you can do.

What is there to say other than we know you are in a better place and at peace. Not only were you a friend you were family. it's weird how its been over 40 years but the good memories remain like it was yesterday. That morning when the police knocked at the door haunts me always, that day was one of the more difficult times I have had to endure. Calling your parents, going upstate to find Emily...It was that friendship we had that helped me through it all. RIP my friend until we meet again.

Thinking of you today. Mommy has joined you now so it's just me. Don't worry I got it all under control here. But could use a little help, Albie
Miss you so much. Emmy

The Gelb family proudly attended the Annual Awards Dinner again this year. So many Court Officers came to speak to me to praise you and to show respect for your sacrifice.
It has been 40 years since you passed. Time flies but our love for you is as strong as it always was.
There is a new Gelb baby boy, Robert. He will know his cousin thru the family.
We love you and miss you EVERY SINGLE DAY.

It was my honor to research newspapers, magazines, online & books to find your Photo. I found this photo in a 1976 New York Times article about your heroic sacrifice. I felt it was necessary to have a photo on this website so that your family & friends can remember you. Rest Easy Hero! Always Remembered!

Hi Albie
Today, your family needs your help. You know all the details and we pray you can make things happen. Move some mountains. We need a Miracle now.
As for myself, I ask you to lead me in the right direction. To provide a path where I see none. And keep me strong in my decisions.

We pray for your guidance and miss you every single day.

I heard about this case when I first got on the job in 1981. I am thankful for your service and glad that they got the guy and it's no longer a cold case.

34 years ago today so many lives were changed. i still can't believe it. you have left a legacy in this family that i know you are watching from above. one is a fireman and first responder, one has dreams of being a court officer in your footsteps. one has set her goals on being an oncologist. as we mourn another year you're gone, we are learning to celebrate your life and make you as proud of who we are, as you were to us. love and miss you always alby. r.i.p.

I am relieved for Albert's mother and sister. I only wish that this had "ended" in his father's lifetime. They all died their first death that morning! It has been a long slow climb for justice with heartache that is impossible to comprehend unless you have been through such a death yourself. Thank God there are few families in this world that have.
I am a Gelb and stand taller because of the pride Albert has brought to the name.

After 33 long years, the murderer of my beloved brother, Court officer Albert Gelb, has been tried and sentenced to 2 consecutive life terms in prison.
My family wished to express our gratitude to all those Agencies that assisted in this case. We are forever in your debt.
We miss you Alby, every day.

It's been a long time my friend but I have not and will not ever forget you. You were a true friend to me, not too many people can say that about someone. We had some good times for the short period that we knew each other. Remember the conversations we had in the coffee shop on Atlantic Avenue when we got off of work? It was strange that morning when you never made it back to the apartment. It was the hardest thing I ever had to do calling your folks in Florida to tell them the sad news. And the drive upstate to find Emily and bring her back to Queens.
You were a good person and I am proud to say that I knew you and that you were my "friend". You are with your creator now so rest in peace..........
