My grandmother was only 12 years old when her father (Det. Garbett) when this happened. What most people don't know is that his wife was not alive at the time of his death and his two oldest son's moved back home to raise their younger siblings until they were married or had a career of their own.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 86th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. I can't imagine what a struggle it must have been for your wife to be left with 11 children, but I am sure your older ones helped. How many lives were shattered by your death!

Rest In Peace.
