Officer Gallivan, it has been 113 years since you were taken from us. New England law enforcement has continued to thrive, learn and become safer due to the traditions and sacrifices you, your family, and many others have made for us. Thank you for your 7 years of law enforcement service.

Gone but never forgotten. No matter how much time passes we will always honor the life of this American Hero. Never Forget. Tonight in our South Boston home we have a candle light in your honor. It represents your service and sacrifice. I will be thinking of you tomorrow when I am in the chapel with my brothers I recently went on a retreat with. We are a faith filled family and we support our law enforcement officers like you. This will always remain a tremendous loss for our nation.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 100th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

On the 98th anniversary of Patrolman Gallivan's death, we honored his service in our patrol briefing by reading his entry from ODMP. Each day, we honor one fallen officer on the anniversary of their death so as to keep them in our thoughts, and also to remind us of the dangers inherent in our job. Patrolman Gallivan is not forgotten.

In the line of duty, another hero pays the ultimate sacrifice so others can walk without fear.
May you REST IN PEACE.

Patrolman Gallivan, today marks the 96th anniversary of your tragic death. Accidents DO happen, some are truly sad, heart wrenching incidents. I know if your partner could have taken back what happened he would have. You gave 7 years of your life to the citizens of Boston and for that, you are a hero. It also takes a very special human being to use his final words to give comfort to and exonerate from blame, his fellow officer.

God Bless and may you continue to Rest in Peace, Brother.

May God also bless the officer whose gun discharged and killed Patrolman Gallivan. He too should be able to Rest in Peace. It was, after all, an accident.

No Officer who gave his life should be without reflection. "For those who pledge to uphold it, freedom requires a sacrifice the protected will never know."
