Reflections for Conservation Officer Wesley Clayton Frame, Jr.

I had the pleasure to work with Wesley Frame III. He is as fine and dedicated officer as I am sure his father was. Although you are gone WesleyFrame II your son carries on your fine example of service to others, often with great personal sacrifice.

I just found this Web Page, It is so nice to honor this DNR Officer, He was a special person, very capable and professional officer, and he did not need to die so young....he was trying to help someone out...yes he had issued a Littering ticket, but was going to help the man charged clean up the mess, but instead he lost his life being kind...I knew Wes Frame. I worked in the Magistrate Court at the time of
his death, I worked with him. What a tragedy it is. His Son and Wife and Family should be very Proud. and I am Glad I knew him...I will not forget him.

I first met Wes in 1972 at the Naval Security Group Activity at Sugar Grove, WV. Wes and I were cryptographic communicators; I was his supervisor. Wes was a superlative sailor and an impressive young man, the only person I ever met who went deer hunting with a bow! I left Sugar Grove in 1973, but I came across Wes a year or so later when we both were stationed at the Naval Security Group Department of the Naval Communications Station Guam. I specifically asked that Wes be assigned to my watch section. He became a great personal friend, well loved by my family and idolized by my children. He completed his Navy obligation while stationed at Guam, and we were really sad to see him leave. We tried to stay in touch with Wes and Sandy through the mail, but the Navy and my career kept getting in the way. We were devastated to learn of his murder. His death left a big hole in our hearts which will never be filled. Wes, we love you and miss you.

His Judgment Day:
The officer stood and faced his God, Which must always come to pass. He hoped his shoes were shinning, Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, Officer, How shall I deal with you? Have you always turned the other cheek To my church have you been true?"
The officer squared his shoulder and said, "No, Lord, I guess I ain't, Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays, And at times my talk was rough, And sometimes I've been violent Because the streets are tough.
But I never took a penny That wasn't mine to keep.. Though I worked a lot of overtime, when the bills got too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help Though at times I shook with fear. And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept an unmanly tear.
I know I don't deserve a place among the people here. They never wanted me around except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord, it needn't be so grand. I never expected or had too much, But if you don't...I'll understand.
There was silence all around the throne, where the saints often trod. As the officer waited quietly for the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, Officer. You've borne your burdens well. Come walk a beat on heaven's streets, You've done your time in hell"

My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

I pray for solace for all those who love and miss you. How proud you must be that your son continued your legacy of protecting and serving.

RIP brother. Even though I was young I remember. My dad worked with you in DNR when this occurred. We talk about you and thank for your sacrifice in this dangerous profession. Now that I am in LE and have lost friends on the job I truly understand it now. You will never be forgotten.

I was born and raised in Massachusetts to Wesley Frame (of Braxton County, WV} and Yvonne Parker Frame. I don't know if I am related in any way, but my heart goes out to the family of this Wesley Frame. I know this happened a long time ago, but only now has this memorial site come to my attention. If you would like to contact me through e-mail, I would be most interested.

"The Badge"

He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.

He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.

Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.

He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.

His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.

He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.

And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.

But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.

Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.

Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.

So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.

In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.

Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

You passed away on my birthday and I was six years old that year. I see the picture of you and your son and it touches my heart. I just had a baby boy this year and I think about everytime I walk out the door if it will be my last. Thank you for the sacrifice so many years ago. May God keep your son safe during his career.

I often travel by that little house near the bank of Rich Creek I pick my son up from the school that has a tree planted in front of it in your memory. I just thought it was time for someone from Monroe County to say thank you. God bless you and your family. It's never too late to say "Goodbye Brother".
