RIP Detective Lopez. I was a rookie when you were murdered. That was the first police funeral I ever attended. Unfortunately not the last. You showed me what dedication and bravery meant. God bless you and may God watch over your family for eternity.

At Det. Luis lopez' EOW I was just a 1yr rookie. A few months earlier I was transferred to the MSTF which turned out of the 7th pct, my locker was just a few away from Detective López. I often heard him speak to his partners before going out in the field. Detective. Luis López was my sole inspiration to become a detective and more so after his death. I will never forget you Detective López even though we didn't know each other, you were my 1st hero in a family of hero's of whom i will always be grateful to. God bless your family always and forever, keep watching over us.

Louie was the kind of guy you wanted as a friend, neighbor, cop and just someone to know. A smile that lit up a room and work ethic that didn't quit. I was honored to work with him for too short a period of time. Seeing some of the names on this page brought back so many wonderful memories of the goodness in the hearts of the people who make up NYPD and the work they do for the citizens of NYC. Louie sure was one of 'em.

It was my honor to research newspapers, magazines, online & books to find your Photo. I found this photo in a 1993 Spring 3100 Magazine article about your heroic sacrifice. I felt it was necessary to have a photo on this website so that your family & friends can remember you. Rest Easy Hero! Always Remembered!

Louie, it's been 21 long years since you were unexpectedly taken away from us. You are missed more than words could ever say. Heard your son is now a member of our NYPD family, and you are standing by his side. May you rest in God's hands and sleep in peace.
