Officer Jessie James Everett had swapped shifts with my father Officer Paul A. Andrews that evening so he could attend a revival at his church with my mother. My mother told me that the event changed my father and he blamed himself for Officer Everett's death. I an ironic twist Luther Wheeler the killer ends up being buried within a stones throw of my father.
