I feel so bad when I hear of any officer who dies in the line of duty.
Here was a young man, doing his job, to protect all of us.
And the bum who killed him only received 4 years.
That is a disgrace.
May he Rest In Peace.

A true "Hero" taken.
You helped make this world a safer place to live.
May God grant you eternal peace.
Prayers to your loved ones and to our department.
I'm proud to have followed your footsteps in the NCPD.

Lon was my great-grandmother's favorite brother. She was so proud of his honor to serve as a very early motorcycle officer, and was still sad for losing him when I was a child in the 1970's. We lost her in 1996 at the age of 97, the last of her 10 siblings. Officer Donnelly, I wondered if it was she that you met. Thank you all for honoring Lonny's memory.

While doing an escort a few years ago an elderly woman approached me as I stood by my motorcycle , she smiled and told me of her brother that was a Nassau motorcycle officer .She said he was killed on his motorcycle. She told me that I reminded her of him and she asked me to be careful.. I wish I had had more time to speak to her.. She smiled and waved as I pulled away. I remembered the name Duncan . 76 years later, your service and sacrifice is not forgotten nor the honor of meeting someone connected to your loss... Rest in peace brother
