I met Dave while working for the Lewisville Police Department as a patrolman, In 1985 I went to Narcotics and Dave helped me with a couple of cases. I consider him to be one of the finest officers I have ever known. I think of him often.

The holiday season is upon us and I know it is especially tough on survivors at this time of the year. I have decorated the outside of my home in blue lights, one of those lights will be lit every night in your honor as my way of saying you are a hero and have not been forgotten. The lights will be lit every night until New Years. Continue to keep watch over your loved ones and those still out on patrol.

It has been almost 18 years since your tour of duty ended but you have not been forgotten by those that love you nor by the Blue Family. They will always keep your memory alive as you are a true hero and heroes never die. I am glad that the individual who caused all this grief and pain has finally left this world. I know that does not bring you back but it is some closure for your loved ones. Continue to keep watch over your loved ones.

I was very young when we were friends, but I always will remember your stories. Listening to your stories got me interested in this work and I thank you very much. I now wish you were around to share some of my stories and meet my family. I truly do miss you. I think of you often, Love your nephew and godson...TJ

Today I was remembering my law enforcement career and found Dave's picture in some old albums. I worked with David at the Tampa Police Department in the late 70's. He and I were among the first group of officers assigned as School Resource Officers for the department. I worked many hours with him. He was a true professional and a gentleman. His loss was a loss to mankind.
REST IN PEACE MY BEROTHER!

Today I received word that Anibal Rousseau, the man convicted of killing my father, died from complications of Hepatitis C while awaiting execution Sunday, March 5, 2006, in the morning.

Dad,
Justice is now in Gods hands. It no longer matters what anyone else believes. Justice has been served.

Love You Always, Devonne

I visited with my cousin, Rita, and her husband, David, when they lived in Flordia. They we so young and in love, and so very sweet together. His death was such a tragedy, and broke her heart. The following quote gives me hope;
"Never fear your journey ahead, for as God has watched over you all your life and, in spite of your fears, has brought you through all the trials and sorrows of your life, so He will take you through the darkest vale, into the light." - White Eagle

I worked in the DEA Dallas Office from 1979 to Jun 88 and went to INS just before David went to Houston. I had bonded with David while helping his submit his may travel vouchers after returning from many assignments and sharing our joint travels in South America. We spent several afternoons cutting firewood in our area and loading up his little car full of wood. Since I was a non-agent DEA employee, David did not let the macho image that most Agents had affect our friendship. First and formost, he was a caring and thoughtful person and I was blessed to have called him my friend. Rest in Peace David.

To the family and friends of Special Agent DeLitta, and his fellow officers with the EPA:

On behalf of our entire family, I wish to extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Special Agent DeLitta was brutally murdered seventeen years ago. His dedication and valor will never be forgotten.

Our family grieves with you and for you.
We share your agony as we lost our beloved Larry Lasater of the Pittsburg Police Dept. when he was fatally shot on April 23, 2005 during a foot pursuit of two bank robbers.

May you continue to be comforted by the caring and support of your law enforcement family, and other police survivors.

This refection is sent with the utmost respect for the service Special Agent DeLitta gave to his community as a law enforcement officer, and to his country, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on October 29, 1988.

17 years ago today Spedcial Agent David Robert DeLitta faced a nightmare that cost him his life with selfless courage. His actions that day saved countless others from the scourge of a coward whose name we wish to know no more. All of our shifts this day are dedicated to this fallen hero hoping that his family would ever know that he is not, nor will he ever be, forgotten.

Dave and I worked together as clerks in the F.B.I. I was there from 1965 to 1969. I lost touch with my old buddy many years ago but continued to do internet searches trying to find him. I found years ago that an EPA agent, Dave DeLitta, had been killed in TX. I prayed that it was not my old buddy but my fears have been brought to fruition. Seeing the picture of Dave and his parent’s on the website Dave’s daughter established, there is no doubt that I have lost my old buddy. Dave took me to his parents several times for some good Italian cooking. I even tried to date his sister but she had too much sense to be seen with an Irishman. Dave was a wonderful young man and great friend. We shared many adolescent experiences while trying to never to give the F.B.I. cause to reprimand us. For all in Dave’s family, please know that I share in your loss and sorrow. I regret that I am too late to see my old buddy and have him share with me some of his life experiences. I didn't know him well but he seemed to be a wonderful father and husband. He made my cousin Rita so happy. I traveled to his funeral out east and was moved by his friend's and family's love for him. Thank you for all you did David.

David was my precious brother-in-law. I adored him. What I loved most about him was the fact that he gave my sister more love and happiness than she had ever known in her life. I'm proud of him and look forward to seeing him when I leave this world. I thank GOD for letting me know David.
